He obtained his MBBS and Masters of Medicine from the University of Singapore. He subsequently obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and was attached to the Department of Cardiology, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He was appointed Fellow in Cardiology at Kettering Medical Centre, Dayton, Ohio State, USA where he trained in interventional cardiology.
